'Won't You Be My Valentine Swap'

We are gearing up with some new monthly swaps over at the forum and we can't wait to share them with you. We have some wonderful ones planned but we also have made a change in the swap rules, so PLEASE be sure and read the updated version before joining a swap. The biggest change is that now you need to have an introduction posted and at least 20 posts on the forum.

There is also a new rule on the type of items to be sent. (That is in the updated version of rule #6) So please be sure to read the updates.

Now... On to the swap!
This will be a Primitive Valentine Themed Swap and it will consist of three items: one fabric item and two 'wild card' items of your choice (as long as they are of the Valentine theme).

Please email me (TJ) at or my personal email address, or send me a pm on the forum and lemme' know you would like to join in the swap! Now come on... whatcha' waitin' for? Ya 'know ya' wanna join!

Sign ups will be taken until December 28th... swaps will need to be sent out NO LATER than January 17th with delivery confirmation.... So everyone will have a lil' time to display their goodies.

Please feel free to post the button on your Facebook and blog to spread the fun!

Happy Swappin'!

'Be Mine' Ornie Swap

Good Morning! We had such great response to our Christmas Ornie swap that we got together and decided to do a Valentine Ornie Swap. Many of us have little prim trees that we would love to decorate through the different holidays and seasons so here we go!

Sign ups are going to be taken from now until Sunday, December 26th.

For the Christmas swap we had three groups but this all depends on how many of us want to sign up. If you want to do more than one group, please let us know. A group will be no more than 10 to a group.

Names will be distributed on December 28th. Since this is getting close we decided that ornies should be mailed out NO later than January 15th. (confirmation is a must)

Postage of $8.00 should accompany your package. ($1.00 additional postage if you do more than one group.) Ornies do not have to be wrapped unless you want too BUT they should be signed so we know who made what.

Ornies will be sent out on January 22nd. With these time restraints this should give us at least two weeks to display. (the next holiday should be better)

How do you sign up?

Just go to the forum and sign up because we would love to have you join us!

Another Way to Win....

The other day TJ, Holli and I were discussing what else we could do to make things more fun for everyone on the forum and decided we would have an Ornie Giveaway!

Some of the gals on staff decided that we would all make some extra ornies and offer them as a way to promote our 'Snowman Giveaway'. I decided to add a set of six or more ornies myself, so its unsure of exactly how many the winner will receive.

What do you need to do???

Just advertise the 'Snowman Giveaway' on your blog and let us know about it here on this post. Even if you enter the 'Snowman Giveaway' itself, you can still enter for a chance to win the ornies.

So what do you think???? Do you like that idea???

Good Luck to everyone and don't forget to go over to the forum and sign up for the big, beautiful Snowman Giveaway!

1st Annual Christmas Ornie Swap

1st Annual Christmas Ornie Swap

Christmas is a time for traditions like baking Grandma's sugar cookies, going caroling with friends and even decorating the family Christmas tree. One of my favorite memories is decorating the family tree with ornaments handmade by my brothers and I. There is just something about a Christmas tree decorated
with dozens of handmade ornaments.

So in keeping with the spirit of Christmas we would like to start a tradition of our own. The 1st Annual Prim Pal Ornie Swap!

How will it work?

We will have sign-ups through the month of September, open to forum members only. If you are not a member, come sign up at: Prim Pals. On October 1st, you will be sent the name of the staff member you will send your ornies to for distributing.

Depending on how many members sign up for this swap, we will divide everyone into groups of 10 or 15. For example: If 30 members sign up we will divide them into two groups. Each person would be responsible for making 15 ornies that would need to be completed and mailed out (with $7.95 for shipping your package of ornies back to you) to an assigned staff member for distributing by November 1st. Please be sure to get a confirmation number when sending to your staff member and forward it to us at:

Once the staff member has everyones ornies they will box them up and ship them out to you by November 13th. This will hopefully insure that you will receive your package in enough time to decorate for the Christmas holiday.

All ornies MUST be handmade and signed in some way by the crafter who made them. We also thought that since it was a Christmas Ornie swap it would be fun if they were all individually wrapped. (Just a little something to add to the Christmas excitement)

If you feel really energetic and would like to do more than just 10 - 15 ornies, feel free to let us know that you would like to do more and we will put your name into another group with different members so you would receive twice the ornies. Its all totally up to you.

We are really excited about this swap and hope you will be too! As always, if you have any questions or even suggestions, please feel free to contact TJ or myself by private message here or email at :

We Are Breaking The Rules!

Rule breaking you ask??? When TJ and I started the Prim Pals Forum, we had dreams of making it a friendly place that everyone would feel welcome. We want it to be a place where our friends can feel comfortable sharing everything...

What's the problem??? Well there are SO many great forums and sites out there, that is hard to share inspiration and great discoveries if you can't talk about them on a forum, right? How many have you joined only to find that if you talk about or join up with another group you will be deleted, etc?

Well, I do not know if we are the first to do this or not but we have modified the rules of the forum! Our friends who join us on the forum no longer have to worry about sharing information on any other forums or sites they may belong too! As long as you are not 'bashing' another forum, we encourage our friends to tell us about any and all places they think would be of interest to our fellow prim brothers and sisters.

You will now find a special board on the forum called 'Prim Pals Kindred Spirits' where you can share a favorite forum or site whether it is prim or just craft related. We all look for inspiration when we create and family should be there and help each other when we need something, right?

We like to think of the Prim Pals Forum as a family and we feel family should share, not be tied down with rules that say you can't do this or that. We want to encourage you to be yourself, but be respectful to others and by all means... if you belong to a group that you think others will also enjoy.... tell us about it!

We just wanted to let you all know that the June Happiness Exchange Swap partners have been matched up and sent out. If you had signed up and didn't receive the name of a partner, please let us know.

There were not many participating this month, especially with the weather being so nice and being busy with our families. We will continue to do the swap as long as you and those on the Prim Pals forum wish to participate. We are sure the participating will pick up again as soon as things slow down a little.

If some of you have wondered, we have not been doing the Newsletter lately. We have had issues with getting it sent out to everyone but we are working on one for June. We have been working on a lot of great ideas and surprises.

Take Care and Hope you have a wonderful day!

Prim Pal News - May 5, 2010

'Prim Pal News'

Good Morning! Since it is such a beautiful day I thought we would sit out here on the porch and enjoy our coffee and this nice coffee cake that I made just for you today. If you like it, you can find the recipe in the 'Dessert' section on the Forum.

These past few weeks have just flown by. I simply don't know where all the time has gone. All of us have been busy brainstorming and coming up with a few ideas and plans that we hope you will enjoy.

~What's New?~

~*~ Americana Theme Swap for May ~*~

We are now taking sign-ups for the May swap. We felt that this would be a good time to do this so those who participate will be able to enjoy their goodies in time for the Fourth of July holiday.

The swap must include:

1 item made of wood
1 item made of fabric
1 item of your choice

The only real requirement is that it must be red, white and blue for our patriotic theme.

Sign ups run from now until May 10th, 2010 and the names will be sent out on May 11th. Just go to the "'Prim Pals Giveaways' category and look for Swaps then sign up on the Americana Swap thread. You will also be able to find all the rules for the swap there. To make things more interesting we decided that it would be nice to make it a surprise and not let our partners know who they have. So just because you may have one person's name does not mean that they have your name too.

~*~ $40 Gift Certificate Giveaway! ~*~

TJ and I were happy to announce that our 'Prim Pals Blog' was selected to giveaway a $40 gift certificate from CSN Stores. This giveaway is open to all our members from the US and Canada! To enter you just have to leave a comment on the blog at:

You can get an extra entry by already being a follower or becoming one and another entry for posting the giveaway on your blog. The gift certificate will be drawn on Mother's Day, May 9th, 2010. Good Luck to all who enter!

~*~ 'A Pound A Week' Challenge ~*~

This is a challenge we developed to help support those of us who are striving to lose weight. It does not matter if you want to lose just 5 pounds or if you want to lose a 100 pounds. There is no revealing your weight, just your success along the way. Weigh-Ins are on Friday because who wants to weight themselves first thing Monday morning after the weekend, and we will all be there to support you. All you have to do is sign up on the thread to participate.

There was a question raised about hosting a chat for those who want to get together and chat about what is working and what is not. Please vote on the poll on what night would work best for you and we will announce it in our next newsletter.

~*~ A Sewing Challenge ~*~

We are excited to post our first monthly challenge! We will be challenging you to use Tennessee Ridges new freebie pattern. You will find it at: .

Once there click on the free pattern button to download. Even though this project is for a wreath, you can choose how you'd like to make it..... Such as bowl fillers, crock fillers (add them to a dowel) any way you choose.

Post your progress in the monthly craft challenge section. At the end of the month post your finished project and we will take a vote for the top 3 winners and you will receive a special Prim Pals graphic. Anyone who participates in the challenge will also receive a lil' special button too!

We hope you are up to the challenge! :)

~*~ Thank you to Renae and Holli ~*~

We wanted to Thank Renae for stepping up and volunteering for our position of 'Welcome Wagon Coordinator'. Renae, also known on the Forum as 'Primaddict' is in charge of all birthday wishes, special day announcements and welcoming all our new members.

Holli, also known as 'Prftstrngr' on the Forum has joined us as our new moderator. Holli is filled with all kinds of Prim Inspiration and Ideas and just waiting to share with all of us. She has even helped ups come up with a new idea that we hope to share in our next newsletter so keep watching.

We want to welcome both gals to the Prim Pals staff. *hugs*

~*~ A New Bi-Weekly Feature ~*~

'How's Your Garden Grow?'
By Melissa a.k.a. MsPrimNCountry

Since its spring time and we are all out working in our gardens and flower beds our very own Melissa has volunteered to do some articles on some of our favorite plants. We hope to make this a new feature in our newsletters and want to say 'Thank You!'

This week's article is about:

Sweet Annie

Sweet Annie Wormwood is in the Artemisias family, there are about 400, and Sweet Annie is one of the very best known.

The earliest known description of Sweet Annie is found on an Egyptian papyrus from 1600 B.C. The bitter herb has long been used as an insect repellent, and was once used as a strewing herb. It can be used in sachets to keep moths away and is planted in gardens to discourage pests such as beetles, cabbage worm, and slugs to just name a few. Tea made of it will repel aphids.

Sweet Annie can be grown in any garden, even in one with poor soil. The seed is small but easy to germinate. Sweet Annie can also be propagated from ripened cuttings, or by plant division.Sow seeds after danger of frost. You DO NOT COVER the seeds because they need light to germinate, but you must keep the soil moist, until plants appear.

Harvest when buds appear but before they open. Discard damaged leaves. Pick on a dry day and dry by hanging in bundles in a shady place around 70 degrees F.

~*~ A Few Reminders ~*~

For those of you who are participating in the Garden Thyme Swap... We just want to remind you that packages need to be sent out by May 11th and that you need to send your delivery confirmation number to TJ at: .

Also don't forget the 'Live Chat' being held every Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Central Time. Its always a fun time for all who visit.

Well, Its getting late.... Where has the morning gone? I hope you have enjoyed yourself. Don't forget to look up that coffee cake recipe.

Take Care and we will see you on the Forum!

'Prim Pal News'

Good Morning! Glad you could stop by. Pull up a chair and make yourself at home. the coffee is ready and let me pass you a nice warm cinnamon roll fresh from the oven.

Can you believe it? Today is the six week anniversary of the Prim Pal Forum. when TJ and I came up with the idea of doing a Forum dedicated to all of us who love prims and just crafting in general, we had no idea that it would take off as well as it has. Its been amazing watching it grow day by day and its all thanks to you!

One of our goals is to make Prim Pals a place that we can all call home. A place where we can all come and share our latest project, thrift store find, or maybe even find some inspiration from friends, old and new alike who are there to help support and inspire.

We want you all to feel like part of our family and to do that we have decided to do a bi-weekly newsletter to help keep you all informed on what is happening and to give you an opportunity to help contribute and make the Forum one of the best places on the web.

Last week we held our first 'Live Chat'. While there were only a handful of us there, a wonderful time was had by all and it was unanimous that we had to make this a weekly event. It was just too much fun not too. So... you are cordially invited to join us in the 'Live Chat' every Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Central time. We look forward to seeing you there!

~*~Help Wanted - Celebration Coordinator~*~

We are looking for a volunteer who would be willing to donate their time and take on the responsibility of sending Birthday greetings and anniversary wishes, along with any other events as they come up. Someone to help us take special notice of our friends special days! You can email us at or respond to the post under 'News Flash' on the Forum.

~*~RAGS a.k.a. Random Acts of Goodness and Surprises~*~

We would like to start a section on our Forum dedicated to doing little acts of goodness to our fellow friends. this would be a spot where we can leave an address so a fellow pal could do a little something nice, just because they wanted to. If someone is feeling down or maybe their birthday was coming up it would allow others to send cards, letters or maybe a little gift.... just because. It would allow others to let you know they care. We also want to let you know that your address, if you choose to share it would only be accessible to other members of the Forum.

~*~Other Plans~*~

Here are a few of the plans we have for the Forum that we would appreciate your feedback on.

1. Blogger of the Month - This would give us the opportunity to spotlight some of the popular or maybe an unknown blog that would be of interest to our members. We would give you, our members, the opportunity to nominate or suggest a blog or website that would be of interest to fellow members. All suggestions can be sent to us at: , just put 'Blogger of the Month' into the subject line.

2. Specials of the Week - An opportunity for our members to 'advertise' a specific item or a sale that they might be having on their website, selling blog or shop here on our newsletter and on a section of the Forum. Our thinking is to showcase five to ten items, showing a picture of the item, cost and how/where to purchase it. (one entry per member please)

Listings would change weekly, so to have your item shown, you would have to submit your item to us at with all of the pertinent information needed, by midnight Friday. the posting would go on the forum the following Monday. Please be sure to use 'Special of the Week' in the subject line of your email.

3. Member Announcements - This would be a section of the newsletter where you can email us any announcements that you would like to see us post in the bi-weekly newsletter. this can be a birthday, anniversary announcement, sale, blog giveaways or even upcoming shows in your area that may be of interest to others.

4. Contest and Giveaways - Besides our monthly swaps, we want to offer our members different contest and giveaways. If there is one that you would like to suggest or help sponsor, let us know. You can email or send a private message to any of the staff with your ideas and thoughts.

5. Challenge of the Month - Be on the look-out because TJ will be hosting our 1st monthly challenge in May. The plan is for one of us to host a challenge that our members can choose to take part in. the pattern/ideas will be provided to you. Each month it will be something different so everyone will have an opportunity to participate. One month it may be a sewing project, the next may be something to paint, or maybe a 'trash to treasure' item. It will always be something different. What do you think?

~*~*~*~*~Our First Contest~*~*~*~*~

To celebrate our very first edition of the 'Prim Pal News'... We would like to invite you to enter our very first contest. It is a very 'Prim' Word Scramble and is sponsored by our very own Stella!

The Rules.... Decipher the words and then send them to Stella via 'private message'. She will take the first 25 names of those with the correct answers and put them in a drawing to win a prize of a 'Bag of Fixins'.

Okay... Here are the words:

1. knloifk

2. eho ekca
3. eteytsihr
4. srehufmoa
5. ohrpesi
6. ratrbe
7. umhenpos
8. vriteipmi
9. esetw inaen
10. tmanlereic

The winner will be announced by Stella on Friday, April 23rd (or Monday morning April 26th). Good Luck to you all!

Well, I guess we better go for now. Remember that you are welcome back anytime. We so enjoyed our visit and look forward to visiting with you again in a few weeks with more exciting news!

We are always ready to hear your suggestions on ways to improve the forum and any ideas on things you would like to see there. So please... let us know what you want to see more of.

We now have a chat feature added and TJ is doing a poll to find out what night would be good for us to all get together. So please vote.

The other day I had tried to go to your blogs so we can also follow you but blogger was not cooperating. Please know that we value each of you and will be joining your blogs so we can keep up with what your doing. It just may take a little bit because when we click on your avatar, it is not giving us your blog address. No worry though... we WILL find you! :)

Take Care and We wish you *prim hugs and blessings*!
